The overall structure and organization of this project was determined from the document "A Survey" by Robert L. Roudabush, 1976-1980". Emphasis is placed on a unique document for each cobblestone structure, from which all information and images about that specific structure available to the project could be viewed, or accessed via links. Each unique document is accessible via a County Menu to a Town Menu listing all of the known cobblestone structures within that town.

In order to clearly identify each cobblestone structure throughout the Roudabush study, a unique code was assigned, composed of an abbreviation of the first three letters of the Town where the structure is located, followed by a number assigned to that structure. Exceptions where a "NOTE" will be displayed with each occurrence:

The code is not a County reference unless otherwise noted in a few specific instances.

There may be duplicate codes for different structures that are in different towns that have the same first three letters.

Many structures will be identified by two names, Franklin-Krenzer for example. The left name is the original or previous owner, and the right name is the current owner at the time as documented in the Roudabush survey. Current information, if known, about ownership will be included in the "Comments, Additional Information, References" heading within the structure document; however, any Menus and Title of a structure document will not be changed.

Due to the age of the Roudabush Study, the address information in that study may be incomplete or incorrect. When a correct address is found, the address is updated and the original address is noted in the "Comments, Additional Information, References" heading within the structure document. Links are provided to Google Maps and hardcopy maps that show the location of each structure. Hardcopy town maps have "radio button" links for each structure location to access each structure documentation. Important: Only the street and town address are provided. Current postal address/zip code likely does not provide accurate location information.

Credit, acknowledgment, or attribution is provided when appropriate for information or imagery provided outside of the Roudabush survey. Over time a number of similar compilations about cobblestone structures will be added to this project. Detailed acknowledgment will be given in the Acknowledgments section of this documentation: however, because of the scope of this project, attribution for everything is impractical. If there is any failure to acknowledge, please contact us and the documentation will be updated.

You will encounter links to resources on the internet such as Wikipedia and Google Maps. Attribution will be provided where appropriate. Please understand that information provided by the linked sites may not be accurate. When inaccuracy is found, a notation is provided in the documentation and the source may be contacted with a request to correct that information.

Because of the detail provided, there can be a number of linked references to other structure documents. It can be quite easy to become lost or be in a circuitous path within the documentation. Remember to use the backward "<" linking icon in your browser to return to a known point in your search for information, or when present at the lower left document corner, click on the home icon to return to the home page and main menu.

Unless otherwise noted, displayed images of the cobblestone structures are scanned copies of the original Roudabush Survey photographs. No corrections were applied to the scanned digital images capturing the photographs "as-is". Nearly all original photographs are 3 ½ x 3 ½ inches. The photographer was not professional and image quality varies greatly. The scanned digital images were done on a color calibrated scanner at a 900 dpi resolution which would allow about a 10 x 10 inch print to be made when printed at 300 dpi. On the unique structure page, the displayed images resize automatically as the size of the displayed window is changed. Click on the link below the image to view the full size image. Negatives for the Roudabush Survey images are stored in the Landmark Society archives; however, there is no assurance that a given negative exists. Please contact us with any inquires about the original photographs and negatives. Acknowledgment will be given for non-Roudabush images.

Photographs included in this documentation without attribution are from the Roudabush Survey. Nearly all photographs and have been scanned on a color calibrated professional Epson or Canon scanners and viewed on a color calibrated professional display during the production of this documentation. Photographs with attribution are from other sources and are included either "as is" or have been adjusted with Photoshop software.

Important: Some photographs have color casts due either to aging, or issues with photographic exposure, materials, processing, equipment and technique. The majority of Roudabush, Wolfish and Palmer photographs are included in this documentation "as-is" without any photo editing adjustments. Photographs by other contributors and from the Cobblestone Museum archives have been "best-effort" Photoshopped to optimize quality. This includes the use of retouching to remove non-image artifacts from the images. To avoid loss of image content when perspective and distortion correction adjustments were applied, the resulting polygonal image on a white background was used.

Your color computer display and color printer likely are more or less not displaying color faithfully unless they have been color calibrated with a device and software designed for that purpose. If to you colors appear to be incorrect, view this test target image to help verify that displayed colors are indeed inaccurate. Use this test target to adjust your colors. Do not use photographs in the documentation. If you desire to print a photograph with poor color from the documentation, access the image file for that image, and either use photo editing software available to you on that specific image file, or refer to a commercial vendor.
